After having two sets of treatments my lower back and the shooting pain down my leg are 80% better. I'm able to walk further without discomfort and without a cane! Bett Stransky -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- September 17, 2013 Dear Dr Lau: I would like to thank you for helping me end my 5-year dependency on Omeprazole (Prilosec) taken for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). I was first diagnosed with GERD in 2008. The presenting symptoms in my case were somewhat unusual and mainly included a sensation of lump in the back of the throat, constantly needing to clear my voice and morning dry cough. I never had typical burning regurgitation. I responded very well to Prilosec and my symptoms completely resolved after one week of taking the Prilosec. However, as time went on it became more and more difficult to wean myself off Prilosec. I would experience severe rebound acid secretion and recurring symptoms upon stopping the medication. I later learned that the “rebound” phenomenon was very common and the reason behind widespread use of Prilosec in society. I almost succumbed to the idea of having to take Prilosec for the rest of life and face its potential adverse side effects. I never thought Acupuncture would be the answer for me. As a medical doctor, I had known about the undisputable role for Acupuncture in alleviating common medical ailments. In fact, I convinced my wife (also medical doctor) to seek your expertise for chronic relapsing Migraine headaches—she is doing wonderfully and off all her migraine medications. I suppose my skepticism about my response to acupuncture was because I had been diagnosed with hiatal hernia, which is an anatomic defect predisposing one to GERD. After few treatment sessions I was able to wean myself off Prilosec and transition to Ranitidine (Zantac). And, now I am tapering Zantac as well. I could not be more pleased with my response to Acupuncture. I will continue to educate my colleagues of the benefits of Chinese Medicine in treating many common medical ailments. I have had fibromyalgia for a year and a half or more with pain every day. The acupuncture that he did has relieved the pain. I have tried various natural treatments and have been on supplements of many kinds but nothing made a difference. I was a first hesitant about this kind of treatment but now wish I would have begun treatment before. I came to you four years ago with debilitating tension headaches looking for some relief. I was sold when you suggested a treatment course for me and once completed you told me “you are all set, if the headaches come back then come see me” I went all this time without an issue. Once the headaches returned this year my FIRST CHOICE was to return to you and the amazing results I achieved in the past. It has been three sessions and I can not believe how much better I feel. My wife had gone thru thirteen years of debilitating back pain. During that time she was seen by a variety of neurologists, who prescribed a variety of very strong pain medications (oxycontin, morphine, etc.) which gave her little to any relief. My wrist was not able to move, hand was swollen and fingers were stiff, they couldn’t bend. This affected my ability to work. I was very anxious. At that time, I thought of Doctor Herbert Lau who is a Chinese acupuncturist at King’s Acupuncture. I called him and told my conditions. He said, “You should come to my office.” I went there and he asked me in detail and filled the form. Then he decided to use acupuncture. He led me to his nice and clean treatment room, and let me lay down on the treatment bed to use acupuncture. Dr. Lau’s acupuncture skill is perfect. When used acupuncture on me, I didn’t feel any pain. After the treatment, I asked him whether I should come back, he replied, “If your wrist is not painful anymore, you don’t need to.” Then I gladly went home. The next day, I felt better, because my wrist was not painful. The third day, my wrist could move and the swollen on my hand was gone.
