Dear Dr. Lau,
I am writing this letter both to express my gratitude to you and your staff, as well as to provide information for others who may seek acupuncture for an illness similar to mine.
I have had problems with allergies for many years. This past spring my allergies and an upper respiratory infection resulted in the accumulation of fluid in my ears (labyrinthitis), which in turn caused vertigo and nausea. Both ears ached almost constantly, and I had the sensation of fluttering muscle spasms deep in both ears. My primary doctor prescribed medication for the dizziness and nausea and recommended over the counter pain medication for the discomfort in my ears. My ear, nose and throat specialist prescribed antihistamines in the form of two nasal sprays to relieve the allergies and reduce the accumulation of fluid in the eustachian tubes.
Over the span of three months
I took the prescribed medications, which for the most part relieved the
symptoms, but themselves caused unpleasant
side effects. The medication for nausea caused the same dizziness that
was trying to get rid of. Each of the four medications I was taking caused
drowsiness, and in combination with each other resulted in constant sleepiness
and a lack of energy. None of the over the counter pain relievers helped
the pain in the ears. From time to time I tried to
stop taking the prescription medications, both to get relief from their
side effects, as well as to assess whether or not my ears were returning
to normal. However, each time I stopped the medications the dizziness
and nausea would return. After three months without improvement I began
to search for an alternative approach to my problem.
I am glad that I chose acupuncture and grateful for having found Dr. Lau. Dr. Lau patiently discussed my problem with me, taking time to ask questions in order to fully understand the nature of the problem. After our discussion he explained his treatment plan. After the second treatment approximately 75% of the pain in my ears was gone, the dizziness was reduced by about 50% and I was able to reduce the medications by half. Having made no other changes in my medical care I am certain that my improvement is the result of Dr. Lau's treatments. After the fourth treatment all of the pain in the ears was gone and only the slightest dizziness remained.
I am writing this letter one month after my first treatment and two weeks after my fifth and final treatment (five treatments were done over a period of two and a half weeks). I have stopped taking all medications and have had no return of the symptoms that I was troubled with for the three months prior to receiving acupuncture.
In addition to the labyrinthitis Dr. Lau treated me for headaches, which have been a problem for me, like the allergies for many years, and are associated with the allergies as well as sinus problems. I have not had any headaches since having received the first acupuncture treatment one month ago. Typically, depending on the season and weather conditions, I would have a headache at least once a week.
I am very grateful to Dr. Lau for his skill and kindness and to his staff for their attentiveness. I highly recommend Dr. Lau to anyone seeking relief from problems similar to mine as well as other problems. I will certainly seek Dr. Lau's help and advise for any future medical problems.

To whom it may concern,
I would like to take this
opportunity to thank Dr. Lau for his acupuncture services.
When I came into the office, my headaches were so severe that they were
interfering with my everyday life. I was referred to Dr. Lau by a neurologist
and I have to say, I was skeptical about this procedure. I wasn't sure
it was going to work seeing as all of the medication I had taken didn't
provide and relief.
Within 3 days, I was 50 to 60% better and within 10 days I was basically
back to feeling 100%.
This virtually painless procedure is quick and I truly appreciate not
having to deal with the side effects of conventional medicine.

I have been so remiss in sending this letter of thank you. This has not been intentional. Since completing treatment with you this spring I have been doing well! Much of this Thanks to You!
When I ruptured two discs in my neck last summer, (but didn't have this diagnosis until October) I was in so much pain from right sided headaches, neck pain and stiffness including some upper back and arm symptoms. This neck problem was in addition to chronic low back pain and a sleep disorder. The multiple regular treatments with acupuncture and electro-acupuncture were marvelous. They decreased the pains to nearly non-existent, allowing me to go without further increases in the pharmaceutical pain management program I had been on. The painless treatments also improved my energy level and seemed to help me sleep better.
I cannot thank you enough. You have made me a believer in acupuncture! I would even like to learn it so that I may offer it to suffering patients. May God Bless you in Every aspect of your life!

Dear Dr. Lau
I am writing this letter to document my acupuncture experience with you. My treatment experience has been very pleasant and beneficial. I came in with pain in my urethra from a cyst that had been diagnosed earlier. Traditional medicine of antibiotics and surgery did nothing to eliminate the symptoms or the cause of the ailment.
Next I spent some time taking a homeopathic remedy, which helped considerably but only brought me back to about 60-70% of total health.
The acupuncture treatments over the last three months have brought me considerable pain relief and healing. At this time I would say that I am at 95-100% in health! The pain in my urethra has virtually disappeared. Additionally the acupuncture treatments and herbal supplements have helped me with digestion issues, and the stress relief treatments leave me much more relaxed than before seeking treatment with you. I would say that receiving acupuncture treatments have improved my overall health and well being tremendously. Thank you very much.

Please read the packet given to you explaining Acupuncture Detoxification treatment, which has been mandated by Amherst Drug Court.
A schedule of the sessions is included in the packet. Time and places in which sessions are available are listed for you.
The court mandates that you
attend 12 consecutive sessions, with a report of
attendance going to the court on a weekly basis. Missing any scheduled
acupuncture sessions will be considered a failure to attend treatment.
Acupuncture sessions will be held at Univera’s Mosher site, 899 Main Street, Buffalo (878-2700) in the Behavioral Health Department (1st floor). The hours are 9:00 - 10:30 (a session lasting 45 minutes).
It is understood that in addition to Acupuncture detox, that you will be involved in Chemical Dependency treatment at an agency to be determined by Amherst Drug Court.
It is suggested that 1 hour before each session you refrain from nicotine and caffeine, and for 1 hour after a session. They may make ears more sensitive. It is also suggested to use the rest room before a treatment. (no leaving the room with needles in ear)
On your first visit please get here promptly at 9:00 for a brief orientation.
